Pat Sirota is hoping prayer can get her through this tragedy.
On Tuesday, her dear friend’s son, Joseph Tutaj mysteriously died while on a school trip to California.
“You can’t ever fully move on. There will always be a void,” said Sirota.
Tutaj’s death is consuming the Seaford, Long Island community. Dozens of students and parents attended a prayer service Thursday night all trying to console one another. Tutaj and his band were on the west coast to perform in Disneyland.
Shannon Fredeicks was on the trip with Tutaj.
“He was fine the first day…got progressively worse,” said Fredericks.
The flag at Seaford High School is at half staff. Grief counselors are helping students. A young man who stood out from the crowd.
“I remember him so clearly, it’s devastating he doesn’t deserve this,” said sophomore Rebecca Tymeck.
The family has been through enough, friends say, Joseph’s father is battling cancer. The family’s home was flooded during Sandy.
He was a good kid that any parent would be proud to have,” said Sirota.
An autopsy is expected to be performed over the next few days.
Joseph’s mother is in California.
