The facade of 1 World Trade Center is taking shape with an eye on the environment. Construction workers are installing new state of the art — green technology — glass panels at the street level podium wall of the structure.

The panels are designed with a special coating to maximize sunlight and minimize heat gain.

Once complete — the base will feature two thousand of the high performance panels.
