Have you ever been denied a ride by a New York City taxi driver because of where you’re going?  Or overcharged for your trip?  Beginning Monday, PIX11 News at Ten will air “Hack Job” a three-part series detailing reporter Arthur Chi’en’s year-long undercover investigation into the illegal practices of cabbies.

The series will air Monday, February 18 through Wednesday, February 20 on PIX11 News at Ten. Over the course of his year-long investigation, Chi’en found drivers who flatly refused to take passengers from Manhattan to outer boroughs or cross-town, drivers who requested cash only, drivers who charged flat rates rather than abide by the meter and drivers with their “off duty” signs continually lit, all clear violations of the Taxi and Limousine Commission’s regulations.

When presented with Chi’en’s findings, TLC Commissioner David Yassky agreed to go undercover as part of a TLC sting operation. The shocking results? Even Commissioner Yassky was denied rides from Manhattan to an outer-borough destination.

Don’t be left on the curb or fall victim to a “Hack Job,” find out how to protect your rights as a passenger with PIX11 News at Ten’s three-part series airing Monday, February 18 through Wednesday, February 20.

Ti-Hua Chang would never engage in such vicious sensationalism. Shame on you Arthur-maybe some anger management classes are still needed.

The reporter is right. Getting a taxicab to The Bronx is very difficult. Taxicab passenger refusal complaints have skyrocketed in the past 3 years. Look at the TLC's own statistics on their website or its Annual Report. TLC does almost nothing. Look at the TLC's enforcement policies. Looks like they are busy seizing gypsies because it brings in more fine revenue. It is good to enforce against the gypsies but maybe some balance is necessary.

Arthur' s just mad cuz of that one time he couldn't find a cab in time and was late for his weekly rub-n-tug at the Flushing "massage" parlor

It's a very hard job, very long hours, often 6 or 7 days a week. Going to the outer boroughs usually means lost time and money. Picking up fares in outer boroughs can also be dangerous or fatal. However, the majority of cab drivers do their job properly. Have a little respect for a very hard working group of people. PIX should issue an apology.

Do you know that: Chien is the French word for " DOG " ?
I think chien wanted to drive a cab, but he went to take the test and he failed since you must have the equivalent of a college degree now to pass this TLC test. That's where all his resentment against cab drivers comes from. I think the solution is to go back to school and maybe one day, you will pass the test. Or maybe, if chien gets some connection, go thru the back door to get one. Poor guy ! I am sorry.
