Raccoons run amuck in the Bronx, and masked bandits are driving neighbors batty

Heath Avenue in the Bronx is where one of our viewers told us families were terrified of coming out at night.

There is a gang of masked critters taking over the streets here.

A combination of plenty of trash laying around, an abandoned warehouse and unkept properties – it’s become a playground for raccoons.

They mostly come out at night but lately some say they are starting to come out during the day. That could mean they are rabid and potentially dangerous. So stay away.

Residents here at the Bailey Houses — building run by the city Housing Authority – say because the problem is so bad they sound like wildlife experts.

This area has become a  raccoon haven and people who live here say the city should really clean up there is trash everywhere.

We reached out to the city on this one. Sanitation as always is checking things out for us.
