Should people living with HIV get the flu shot?

Absolutely. If your immune system is compromised by a pre-existing condition, such as HIV, it is important to get vaccinated. Those with HIV do not have the ability to fight off infection in the way that many others can; the vaccine is an INACTIVE form of the virus, therefore allowing your T and B cells to become familiar with the virus. Therefore, in the case that someone actually contracts the Flu, the body will already know what to do, ideally. Scientists and other experts cannot know exactly how the virus will be expressed because viruses can mutate themselves, but overall, they make educated decisions and vaccines do not create problems, they prevent them.
