NEW YORK (PIX11) – Governor Cuomo used his state of the state address to announce plans for a host of education initiatives.

Topping his list was a bar exam that all new teachers would have to pass to get a job in the state.

He also plans to offer financial incentives to districts that want to experiment with longer school days or school years!

Governor Cuomo is also calling for an assault weapons ban that would be the toughest in the nation.

Cuomo’s 7-point plan includes eliminating all high-capacity magazines, doing background checks for all gun sales and creating stricter penalties for the illegally purchased weapons.
