Bronx home-invasion thug poses as cop; goon brands man with iron
Police are searching for a home-invasion thug who posed as cop to allow four other masked men into a Bronx building, all in order to violently rob a tenant.
The victim came to the door at 5 a.m. on Sunday Dec. 9th after a man announced he was an NYPD officer. As soon the door swung open, five men burst into the apartment, four clad in black ski masks.
The first suspect kept watch as the other four tied up the couple who lived in the apartment, putting pillow cases on their heads.
At one point, one of the suspects took the couple’s infant and threatened to hurt them in front of the baby if they didn’t hand over drugs, according to police sources.
When the male occupant told them he didn’t have drugs, one of the robbers began torturing him with a curling iron.
Unable to find drugs, the thugs took off with two iPhones, an iPad, a wallet and cash. All five men ran from the building on foot, according to police.
Police describe the man wearing the cop disguise as a male Hispanic, 30-40 years old, approximately 200 lbs., dressed in blue jeans and a white jacket. The other four men are described only as Hispanic men.
Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
