Thousands of parents are scrambling to find their kids a way to school — just in case bus drivers go on strike.
The union representing the drivers has threatened a strike.
Drivers are angry over the city’s decision to invite bids on yellow bus contracts.
The city claims transportation costs taxpayers an average of $6,900 a year per student. and it’s been 33 years since competitive bidding has occurred.
The last time New York City school bus drivers went on strike was 1979.
