NEWTOWN, CT (PIX11)  The investigation into why Adam Lanza stormed into Sandy Hook Elementary and murdered 20 innocent children is still far from being solved.

Monday, more than 72 hours after the massacre, law enforcement officials say that there is no connection between the school and Lanza — contrary to initial reports.  According to officials, Adam Lanza smashed at least one personal computer; investigators are trying to access his browsing history and email records in search of any motive.

Investigators are meticulously combing through what they say is a large amount of evidence and stated they will stop giving press conferences during the day – barring any major developments – in order to focus on what will be a lengthy investigation.

“We have begun processing the evidence, analyzing the evidence, as I stated yesterday and just to use an example, the weaponry, every single facet of the weapons will be analyzed, every single round of ammunition will be looked at and examined for any kind of physical evidence,” said Lt. Paul Vance.

As part of the investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents have been knocking on doors at gun ranges near Newtown.

Surviving family members of shooter's family shattered by tragedy

Adam Lanza smashed his computer before his murder spree.

“They were very nice and asked if I would make available to them our sign-in logs, they wanted the last two months, I told them they could have anything they want and expect full cooperation from us,” said Dean Price at the Wooster Mountain Range Friday.

“When the ATF determined that night that they had not been here, I sighed relief and told them that, and the ATF agent was very nice and said hey, even if they shot it was no reflection on this place because this is a public shooting range, and I told him that’s not why I was concerned, I would just hate to think that that kid trained here to do that, that’s what bothered me,” Price said.

Adam Lanza or his mother were not at the state-owned range according to records.   And as speculation swirled around other ranges most opted not to talk .

As for Lanza’s older brother, Ryan, who works for Ernst & Young in Times Square, neither he nor his father spoke to PIX11.  Nancy Lanza’s ex-husband and Adam Lanza’s father have reportedly gone into hiding.  Police continue to stake out his Stamford residence as the investigation continues.

"Nancy Lanza’s ex-husband and Adam Lanza’s father have reportedly gone into hiding." This looks like the writer is referencing two different people. Please correct or clarify.

In the end one has to wonder if it wasn't simply Adam Lanza's nature to always be secretive and divorced from the real world as he lived in his own violent make believe fantasy where he dared not leave any tangible digital fingerprints.

Really should we be all that surprised that he smashed his hard drive, it is so keeping with his character, he chose to keep his actions and thoughts a total secret, save of course for one action that he wanted us all to sit up and notice…
