A place of innocence turned into sheer hell yesterday when a gunman opened fire inside Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, killing more than two dozen people including 20 children.

As investigators try to piece together what may have led one young man to do this terrible thing, we’re learning more details about the victims, and the acts of heroism that may have prevented an even greater tragedy. Jay Dow picks up our coverage.
